Agricultural machinery Design Competition

The Northeastern region has not been able to catch up with farm mechanization and remained behind the mainstream of the country for historic reasons. Because of lack of appropriate mechanization, the agricultural productivity is low adversely affecting the economy which is predominantly agrarian. Improvement in agricultural mechanization will make agriculture and rural life more rewarding, less arduous and attractive enough for rural educated people. Agriculture in the region dominated by small and marginal farmers demands machines which are small in size, light in weight and has the capacity to perform various operations without much alteration.

It is in this context, Rotary club of  Gauhati  South is  organizing a competition for designing and manufacturing a prototype of a compact light, low powered  agricultural machine for reducing the human drudgery of farmers from North East Region of India. So we invite professionals/research groups/manufacturers to submit innovative designs for a ‘ compact, light, low powered multipurpose machines’ which can make a difference in low resource rural setting of Northeastern region. Rotary club will award a cash prize of Rs. 50000.00 ( Fifty Thousand only) for the winners.

An internal evaluation committee consisting of experts in the field will evaluate the submissions to arrive at a final decision. All applicants have to submit their technology in the following format :

  •  Name of the Implement
